Mural Restorations
Mural Dreams also offers professional mural restoration for owners whose murals have been affected by age, moisture, or physical damage, UV exposure, and home repairs. Our restoration process is thorough and carefully matched to the original work to preserve the mural’s appearance and integrity.
Typical restoration steps
Assessment: We inspect the mural and surrounding wall to document damage, identify underlying causes (moisture, cracks, paint failure), and recommend a restoration plan.
Surface preparation: Damaged areas are sanded and leveled. Any loose material is removed and deteriorated plaster or drywall is patched to create a stable substrate.
Priming: Patched or bare areas are reprimed to ensure uniform absorption and a consistent base for repainting.
Color matching and repainting: We match colors and replicate the original brushwork and techniques to seamlessly integrate repairs into the existing mural.
Protective finishing (optional): If requested, we apply additional layers of varnish or clear coat to refresh the surface, improve durability, and unify sheen. This step is performed only after the wall has been fully cleaned and repairs are complete.
Notes and recommendations
Address underlying issues first: If moisture or structural problems are present, they should be resolved before restoration to avoid recurring damage.
