“Nature Sees All” Mural

Alentown Arts Park Mural Project

October 2023

Details

In late July of 2023, some of my friends and students brought to my attention that there was a sort of mural competition happening in Allentown, that raised awareness about the harmful effects of pollution flowing with rainwater.

It sounded fun, so to apply, I made a thoughtful sketch and sent it to them, along with a brief artist statement.

On August 31, I found out that I was one of the lucky finalists to be chosen to paint one of the nine stormwater inlets at the Allentown Arts Park.

The “Go with the Flow” Allentown mural initiative was a fun project that hopes to call attention to the stormwater inlets by creating mesmerizing murals that capture the eye and inspire people to be more mindful about their actions.

It was a fun little project during which I met some other fellow muralists and other locals who stopped, enthralled by the process, and witnessed the mural creation in full action.

I completed it over the course of 3 days, at the beginning of October.

The mural was actually painted on a sticker that was installed around the inlet, then varnished with a sealant. I hope it’ll last for a few good years!

My mural is inspired by the interconnectedness of all things- animals, plants, and humans, and the fact that nothing that we do goes unseen by nature.

Fish were a very popular choice for other artists too- but of course, they are the “people” of our streams.

If you are curious to see the murals, I encourage you to visit the Allentown Arts Park and witness these wonderful and diverse works of art in person!

I am truly grateful to have been part of this lively mural project, and lucky to have my art displayed in a public space where all can see and enjoy it.

I hope you do too!
