What kind of Flyer are you?

The birds are chirping outside, and the sun is shining its bright, warm light now.

Spring is here, with its warmth, nature, flowers, rain, and life...

...even in these humanly weird times, nature carries on.

And it's so refreshing to see that!

A token of normality, of reconnection with the Eternal.


Last year, my friend Amanda and I took our kids to a recharging vacation to LBI.


And she shared with me a life-changing practice of sitting outside every morning and writing something down; anything, whatever comes up.

Letting it go, bringing it up, putting it down and aside.

I wasn't a stranger to the idea of "morning pages", but taking my body and mind outside changed something.

I kept with it until it got too cold( or lazy) for me to go outside...

But those days that I do it... it changes my game. I'm more grounded, centered, and relaxed.

It slows down and relaxes my racing mind...

One morning she shared with me a writing from her journal, some thoughts that she had that morning while watching the birds fly and witness life unfurl.

So I asked her to share some thoughts with you. Here's why she does it:

"I have been journaling for over 20 years now. Each morning I wake up before the sun and I make myself a cup of tea. I wrap up in a blanket, then I go outside with my Journal. I drink my tea and I breathe… I watch the world wake up. I breathe the cool air into my lungs. I allow my thoughts to start flowing. Some days my thoughts are about the things that I would like to get done that day. Sometimes my thoughts are about the things that are troubling me. I write it all down. The small stupid things along with the deeper thoughts go into my journal. Sometimes I write about the things that are happening around me. Here is an entry from my journal:

Aug 28, 2019

I wonder what it would be like to fly.  I'm watching the birds this morning and some flutter about and some glide on the wind.  I guess that is how we go through life. Some of us fluttering… flap, flap, flap flapping, fighting against the wind and some of us float on the wind, letting the wind move us where it's going. I am trying to be a glider rather than a flapper. So, where is life pushing me?  I guess I am a flapper. Too funny!  I am trying to get my book done flap, flap, flap, flap.  I'm trying to build my business flap, flap, flap, flap.  Can I flap and then glide?  Maybe that's the type of flyer I am. Flap, flap, glide,… flap, flap, glide... OK, that is how I am moving through life.  I guess it is OK.  If I don’t flap, I would not get where I want to go.  But, do you really know where you want to go?  I have an idea sometimes.  I have things that I would like to accomplish.  So, I guess I will keep on flapping and gliding.

I think this is THE time to start a new habit; as you are forced to be without certain things...

Fill your time with better things!

Get out of your house, out of your mind, out of your habit box!
