Where there is Mind, there is Philosophy
From an early age, I often found myself pondering on things from a telescopic perspective...
Like how my troubles seem to disappear while I sleep, or how life isn't so bad as long as I have one thing or another...
I frequently escaped into imaginary worlds, where the bug-bear of reality lost its power, and much inquired into the validity of the perceived phenomena.
Sometimes, I would sit on a pile of hay, absorbed in the spellbinding, diaphanous swirls of dust particles dancing in a light beam...
"Reality is arbitrary"
If my troubles are gone while I sleep, then do they have a substance because I am awake to acknowledge them?
How is waking reality different than dreamworld?
When I imagine myself in space, looking down on Earth, there is no baggage .
To visualize yourself on the Moon is therapy.
"Everything is subjective"
Mesmerized by the unseen, the mysterious, paranormal, spiritual world, I would devour whatever information I could find back then, when the Internet was just a baby and Internet Cafés were in vogue.
Magick, lore & Infinity
I grew up in a country with a rich mythical folklore, so naturally, legends of vampires, ogres, faeries, dragons, and strange characters figured largely in my childhood.
Growing up deeply impassioned with the exuberance of the world around, and the weird microcosm inside, now I discover that there is no limit to which we can say: "I've seen it all!"
There is always more to explore, the matter, mind and the spirit are infinite indeed...
Breath is your soul
The ZEN tradition sculpted much of my growing childhood as well, with its koans that leave one ruminating, or comforting thoughts of enjoying life's simplicity, and its witty, humor-rich stories*.
I found solace in spirituality, because it's liberating to fearlessly surrender all of your woes to a greater, wiser, all-encompassing, Good Orderly Direction of flow. Freedom is found in letting go...
I wrote some. And then I drew
I think my first official drawing was that of an alien, that I found in a newspaper; I still have the inspirational clipping.
College was another stressful period, when writing and self-expression poured out to balance things; so I would decorate my dorm-room bunk-bed wall with sketches of synesthetic and other whimsical sketches; while studying physical therapy- that I never had the desire to pursue afterward...
Making cookies, painting chairs
Destiny brought me to the States over a decade ago, and the years rushed by swiftly afterwards, bringing "adulting" responsibilities, housework and other social duties... which inadvertently turn one jaded, blasé and bored with life...
Novelty = Reviving the Inner Kid
When you're young, the future is truly unwritten, mysterious and exciting. Everyday, lots of new experiences are waiting to be enjoyed, and the unknowing makes it worth getting out of bed in the morning.
A typical grown-up has exhausted himself with both pleasure, responsibilities, the tedium of daily life; so much so that the prospect of novelty is diminished to the point of boredom, ennui, dysphoria, and, too often- depression.
...No wonder we feel compelled to return to our childhood roots, and perhaps thirsty to see& explore things anew, through the clear eyes of a child once more...

Before painting on walls, doors, floors and canvases, furniture was the recipient of my artistic love. It was called "Balaura's Handpainted, Recycled and restored furniture - One of a kind creations". Check them out on my Facebook page !

*The great Taoist master Chuang Tzu once dreamt that he was a butterfly fluttering here and there. In the dream he had no awareness of his individuality as a person. He was only a butterfly. Suddenly, he awoke and found himself laying there, a person once again. But then he thought to himself, "Was I before a man who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being a man?"
