New Mural and cultivating freedom

Migrating beyond one's comfort zone and welcoming new challenges is the hallmark of what defines an artist.

Everyone's time is precious, so I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet...

Without further ado, I'm honored to introduce my very first commission mural, themed around an iconic image of NFL history:

Chuck Bednarik of the Philadelphia Eagles takes out Frank Gifford from NY Giants during a football game on Nov. 20, 1960.

This mural certainly invited me to step outside my comfort zone ; to learn and try new techniques, both theoretical as well as practical . Letting go of our imaginary limits is tremendously empowering in general , and growth only takes places beyond the edge of the comfortable...

Living a deliberate life

Comfort lulls us to sleep and pain wakes us up.

Great artists of the soul: "Buddha" means "the awakened one", and Jesus told us to " keep watch"... to not let ourselves be cocooned and surreptitiously fall asleep into a limiting womb of familiarity and routine; an illusory world where we define ourselves as separate from everything else...

"This is your life. It doesn't get any better than this."

The way to live fearlessly is to blow that warm bubble of comfort and rise to every single one of life's challenges. "In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him."

After all, what should we be afraid of; what is there to lose? We spend too much energy in defending ourselves, (whether the body, or the ego) and we know that in the end, we'll eventually be up... so there's a substantial internal struggle going on behind the scenes, in our subconscious- a kind of unnecessary guilt dwelling inside us all the time. With kindness, we can chose to forgive ourselves and let go of that guilt, discard our preconceptions of ourselves, and discover that we're much more than we had thought. We can use that energy to find instead, no limits to our being....and that may be scary at first- if you try to define yourself, because your true being is ineffable...

"Whoever tries to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it. "

" This is your life- and it's ending one minute at a time"

My daily mantra for living a fearless, unbounded life:

1. Let go of perfection -effortless and serene, clouds and waves are never misshapen; cultivate some wabi-sabi in your life.

Embrace failure, learn from it, and strive for greatness.

2. Be an inspiration to others& yourself

Believe in yourself . By sharing ourselves, we make our world a richer place.

3. Define yourself authentically

Break free from banality, mediocrity and social norms! Ignore the pressure to conform and let your spirit flow freely.

There's no such thing as "normal"!

4. Take control of yourself!

Letting go of the things you can't control is the Buddha Way, The Warrior Way, the Jesus Way, call it what you will, it is THE Way.

But the one thing you CAN control is yourself. Be kind to yourself, respect yourself, and "find what feels good".

With self-respect comes self-confidence. And boy, if most of us had that, there would be much less turmoil in the world!

My friends, this is it for now. But since I have peppered this post with some great quotes from one of my favorite movies that I've recently rewatched, I'd like to share with you some of the soundtrack. Enjoy "This is your life" - Fight Club
