I truly believe that everyone can be creative, artistic, by simply
expressing what touches your being.
It's that simple.
We all feel things- in different ways, yes- but we all have something to say, to express, to share.
We ALL have that creative itch to scratch.
We ARE all Creators, each one of us. With a capital C.
But let's get real for a moment...
Please allow me to bust this myth about "originality", which may cripple many of us when trying to create something, we're so afraid to copy, or to be a fake... but...
There's no such thing as originality!
Everything is a collage of everything else, filtered and recombined through your own colored glasses, and belief system.
Ideas and inspiration don't come from inside your brain, they are simply digested bits and pieces of information that touch you on a deep level- and we all have those, don't we?
The degree of your or anyone else’s creativity doesn’t depend on an innate quality but rather on how hard you work,
and nurture your curiosity and willingness to observe reality, and take notes.
Ipso facto, Creativity is not something that a person is born with...
But it's like an adoptive child, that needs to be nurtured, payed attention and tended to.
All it takes is Consistency.
Creativity takes COURAGE
There's SO MUCH vulnerability in showing your very inner self to the world, and that's perhaps where the power is.
Because, you know it:
Nature LOVES courage.
And only at the edge of your comfort zone can you grow, and evolve as a higher being.
Embrace the fear.
For a creative, fear is your body’s way of telling you that you’re onto something excellent.
Instead of shying away from fear, move toward it.
It will bring you to new heights if you let it.
Art therapy and the state of Flow
The therapeutic benefits of artistic activities come in many forms, and can be soothing to our minds, they offer a healthy form of escape, and such tasks can free up unconscious habits.
When we get into a state of creative “flow,” our minds enter an optimal state of consciousness where we feel and perform our best. Our concentration is so focused that everything else falls away, and we lose our sense of time and self.
Normally, our brain is in a fast-moving state of beta waves.
In flow, our brainwaves slow to an Alpha state, the same as our day-dreaming and meditation mode, where we slip from thought to thought easily. Our prefrontal cortex is also temporarily deactivated, which allows us to simply create without self-consciousness or judgment.
Making time to use your brain creatively can bring your brain and body the same kind of benefits as meditation: being more mindful and decreasing anxiety.

When the intent behind our art is self-expression, the value in the art becomes the emotional benefits.
The process we go through to create our art, to transform a mental image into something physical, is a reflection of our thought processes.
Much like paying attention to how we feel physically, the creative arts allow us to check in with our mental well-being and emotional state.
The Power of Creativity
Expressive arts bridge the gap between the conscious and unconscious mind.
When we put our mental process into a physical form, we feel more in control of our thoughts and feelings, and we understand them more clearly.
The creative and artistic processes allow us to merge our emotional and our logical parts into one identity. This is a key step in our healing—to learn that what we think logically may not match how we feel, and that’s okay. It is a part of our process. Having a creative outlet where we can express ourselves means we can better manage those thoughts and feelings.
